★ Somalia's first mental health organization · since 2005

Every mind in Somalia deserves to be held with care.

For twenty years, Habeeb has cared for people living with mental illness that others turned away. Today, more than 100 of our inpatients have disabilities and no family but us.

Our campaign · goal $50,000

They have no family. We are their family.

More than 100 of our inpatients have disabilities and no family, and depend on Habeeb for medicine, shelter and food. 87% of our inpatients cannot afford the monthly fee. $400 cares for one patient for a whole month. Any gift from $20 helps.

We have no regular funders. No government, NGO or international partner currently supports us. Apart from charity during Ramadan, our patients depend on you.

Dr. Abdirahman Ali Awaale
Our founder

It started on a street in Mogadishu in 2005

Dr. Abdirahman Ali Awaale, known to many as Dr. Habeeb, saw a crowd chasing and insulting young girls living with mental illness. He decided he could not stay silent, and used his own resources to open Somalia's first mental health centre after the civil war.
